One of the great classics of Christian literature is "Silence" by Shusako Endo.  Fujimura reflects on and examines it through a lens of pain, art and culture.  "Silence and Beauty" gives the reader a unique insight into Endo's classic work.

Fujimura looks at how God often seems silent during the trials we go through.  One of my favorite authors, Philip Yancey, explores similar themes in many of his books, so this naturally caught my eye.  I found it enlightening to "read Silence" through the eyes of this author.  The comments about the modern world and why Endo's book is still one that today's readers can learn from.  A some point in the near future I hope to read this back to back with "Silence".  Fujimura will open your eyes to things you might have missed when reading Endo's book.

Highly recommended.
